Casey Lyon, Founder of Habitat Gardens

Casey Lyon, Founder

Casey Lyon, Founder and Sole Proprietor of Habitat Gardens, is a leading expert in Native Gardens and Green Roof technologies.  Trained at California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo with a degree in Horticulture that focused on Restoration Ecology, he has built over 150 native gardens and living roofs while collaborating with the best landscape architects and designers in his field. He has won several awards for his living roofs and has had his gardens featured in Garden Design Magazine and Gardens Illustrated. He has been highlighted on the television program ‘Big Ideas for a Small Planet’ that featured his work on the California Academy of Sciences living roof. He is also developing the first master gardener program that focuses on native plants and best practices for utilizing their potential for aesthetic balance and beauty while maintaining responsible water use practices. Recently, he has focused on rainwater catchment systems that collect and re-use water for his gardens and roofs.

Brian - landscape architect

Brian Lerable

Brian is a son of Steinbeck Country, raised on the Central Coast. He has worked as draftsman for landscape architects, as a contractor on custom construction projects, and as a horticulturist with a plant propagation business in local markets. As project manager, his body of work culminates in the planning, design, and management of high-end landscapes for Habitat Gardens. Brian has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. He has lived and worked abroad in Europe and South America, speaks Spanish, and enjoys officiating water polo.

Cameron Leavens - Landscape Contractor

Cameron Leavens

Cameron formally joined Habitat Gardens as a manager in 2010 following many years working with the company as a subcontractor. Cameron's interest in landscaping began as a child working on his family's farm. While at college he worked at various wineries during harvest seasons and for three years after college he was a vineyard manager at premium grape grower Burden Farming. In 2002, he started his own landscape construction business and quickly found a niche creating outdoor masterpieces for clients to enjoy. He has an Agribusiness degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and has a vast array of experience that pertains to more than simple Landscape Construction. Cameron's experience and work ethic makes him an invaluable contributor to the Habitat Gardens Team.
